Dr Vaughan has undergone specific training and is a qualified Invisalign operator.
Invisalign uses clear removable appliances, similar to bleaching trays or retainers. To manufacture Invisalign the orthodontist takes high quality impressions which are then sent to the Invisalign factory in Costa Rica. In Costa Rica technicians determine the ideal tooth positions according to the prescription submitted by the orthodontist. The computer then determines how many appliances are required and the duration of treatment. If the patient then decides to proceed with treatment the Invisalign appliances are manufactured and supplied to the orthodontist.
Invisalign requires the patient to wear the appliances close to 24 hours of every day. The appliances are removed to eat, clean the teeth and for special occasions such as playing sport, swimming and other rare occasions. If they are not worn 24 hours of each day they may not be successful.
Invisalign will not position the teeth as well as braces. This is acknowledged by the representatives of Invisalign, however in their words "it produces a vast improvement". Invisalign is for patients who do not want braces and are not fussy about the perfect result.
